Shell Citibank Credit Card - A Cash Draining Card

Are you fancy of getting a credit card that offers 5% rebate on shell petrol and 1.5% rebate on other purchases? If your answer is yes, then you are draining your money away!
The newly launched Shell Citibank credit card is not as good as its sounds - to enjoy the rebate, you must have a carry forward balance. Yes, a carry forward balance that you have to pay Citibank 18% interest per annum. But that's is not all, your so called 'rebate' is based on your current month spending. That means if you have a carry forward of RM10,000 but did not use the card at all for the current month, you get 'zero' rebate.

This is how the rebate scheme works:
-First, you need to have a carry forward balance. The amount of that carry forward determines the rebate rate (%) that the card holder is getting.

-Then based on your current month spend, you will get the rebate (as shown by the rebate table above) - your rebate is not based on your total carry forward balance. Repeat: your rebate is not based on your total carry forward balance, but current month spending

In short, to get your 'rebate' you must have at least of RM2,000 outstanding balance in you card AND continue use the card. The outstanding balance is the net of previous month balance minus current month payment. If you do that, every month you will be paying RM30.00, or RM360 a year for the minimum RM2,000 outstanding balance.

Let's do a simple math here:
If you spend RM500/mth on shell petrol and your classic card has a RM2,000 outstanding balance, at 1.5% , you are getting RM7.50 as 'rebate', while at the same time, paying RM30.00 for the interest. The 'nett' profit for Citibank is RMRM22.50. Your are essentially "over paying" 4 times the price (30/7.5) To 'break even' (so that your RM30.00 interest payment = rebate value), you need to pump RM2,000 shell petrol a month, or charge RM6,000 a month for non-shell related purchases.

The USD100.00 per barrel of crude oil won't kill you, but the Citi-Shell card will.

Hospital Attachment

From Titiwangsa LRT station, next passed by a bus station, car park and a smelly big dustbin beside a small lorong and then comes to a busy two way street where u need to choose either use the bridge or risk being caught by traffic police because of using the shortcut and kena saman RM500, u will come to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), the busiest hospital in KL, everyday when I passed by the outpatient pharmacy I can see a huge crowd waiting for their medication. I believe I have been to HKL for not less than 3 times, may be I need to consider myself lucky as I don't need to travel by car everyday to outstation, but waking up at 6-7am everyday is just very tiring...

The first week in Oncology ward let me realised that my clinical knowledge had became rusty after doing research for the last whole semester. How am I supposed to remember the drug regimen (e.g. CMF, FAC, VAF, FOLFOX, FOLFIRI etc) for so many types of cancer ? Anyway our preceptor is a helpful pharmacist, Cik Kamalrun was able to answer to our doubts rather than asking "what do u think ? go find out yourself " which makes our life easier.

It may be unbelievable for a pharmacist student never seeing a real packed cell. What is a packed cell ? Cell packed together in a bag ? Hmm... quite correct, actually it is a bloody red bag for blood transfusion. Looks like Ribena in a new packaging, to blood hunter may be...

Interesting drug in which a patient can kept until year 2090!

Athough clerking case is tiring and reading those doctor's handwriting is just a torture to your imagination and brain power, but I will be motivated to clerk case if next year pharmacist and doctor pay will increase again, hope that is true hahaha...

Is my birthday tomorrow!

Another 2 hours more I will be officially 22 year-old. This will be the first time I am not celebrating my birthday at my hometown Penang for so many years because usually this time I am still enjoying school holiday.

I would like to share some of the photo I took with my classmates on last Friday for our convocation magazine. After this we won't be having a lot of chances meeting each other because we will be going to hospital attachment for 9 weeks times.

A/P Dr.Kang Yew Beng, who always bugged be "Poh Hon, where is your tie ?" Whenever I got my tie on he will be so happy hahahaha... Look at the photo his smiles was so big! @_@

Photos with some of my classmates (Gangs of black, white and gray :)

Nothing bocor, just wandering where is the old roof top canteen, the new canteen food is so expensive and tasteless.

Why do we need to clerk case and prepare for seminar... :(

Two leng chai and leng lui

Moo: Go Klang remember "ta pau" bak kut teh for me !
Kit : Yes Boss...

Then I found this balloon inside the student lounge, too bad no birthday present for me, whose balloon is this? I will destroy it!

Who got photos to share ? Please let me know or send it to me ok ? Thanks!

This new semester started so early, so sien one day before birthday still need to wake up so early at 6a.m. and go to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for my first day of hospital attachment. After briefing ends at 9 a.m., 5 of us (Jivanti, Kai Shing, Cathy and Diayana) who were assign to Oncology ward should be allowed to go back straight away rather than waiting the pharmacist in-charge to handle us who never shows up until 3 p.m. and was still busy with meeting until then.

Each hospital got the pros and cons, HKL usually allows you to go home earlier, got a lot of cases but it isn't really a teaching hospital. Moreover it covers a huge area, sometimes you need to walk a lot to reach you destination and not many of the department are equipped with air con. So stop complaining la to those people who went to Seremban and Klang... hahaha I see u good u see me good only.

Last school holiday

It is just so fast, 1 month school holiday passed by in a blink of eye, beside playing Football Manager 2008, DoTA, Hitman 3:Contracts, watching movie and drama, basically I didn't touch a book the whole holiday because this may be the last time in my life I can enjoy a school holiday. It is because after the final semester, probably I will be busy looking for a hospital which will accept me as a houseman pharmacist. I wonder whether IMU will help us to look for a hospital or we need to look for ourself ? I think it will be the latter, "ji gei zham sang"....

In order to enjoy my holiday, everyday when I wake up at 2pm in the afternoon, coz I watch Hong Kong drama until 5-6am usually. 溏心風暴 (Heart of Greed) and 赌场风云 (Casino Air and Wind??!!) are both really interesting drama to watch, to those who haven't watched it, I think you should not miss them. I like these two drama because they shows the ugly side of human, being selfish and will just think of anything to get what they want, including hurting your best friend or family. This also happens in our daily life isn't it ? When a person will just come to you and ask for your help if he/she think you are useful to him/her and after that treating you like shit after they think that you are of no use to them anymore. What can you do, just think positively and live with it...

Alright, back to my holiday story, I can't be sitting at home and just doing nothing, so sometimes I went out with my friends to have a walk. Gurney Plaza and Queensbay Mall are meant for movie only, not shopping coz no $$$. I will go to places which don't need to spend money such as Botanical Garden, waterfall and sea.

You may have seen a mature monkeys a lot of time but how about a baby monkey? This was taken at the Botanical "monkey" garden.

It is so hard to find a waterfall nowadays, I managed to found one in a hidden location at Batu Ferringi. The water was crystal clear and cooling but this waterfall is too small to let us swim in it.

Do horses knows how to swim ? I have seen horses pooing at the sea shore and the carer just use sand to cover it. Please think twice if you wanna swim in the sea. This is at the Golden Sand Beach resort at Batu Feringgi, outside there is the place where I can get cheap DVD movie and drama at RM 4 per piece after 7pm.

Original Penang Bangkok Lane mee goreng, the one at Sri Petaling Ameen Bistro is highy recommeded also because I tried it before and it taste equally as good as the original ones.

When was the last time you de-worm? It is recommended to take it once every 6 months, I think I have never de-worm before, until when I ask a pharmacist why I eat a lot also cannot gain weight he told me some of the reasons, one of them is the worm in your intestine are also eating what you eat so I get this chocolate flavor suspension from him for RM7. It taste acceptable, not as bad as I think because azole group drugs usually taste bitter.

Cash Advance

Cash advance or payday loan (also called as paycheck advance or payday advance) is a short term loan that is intended to cover a borrower's expenses until his or her next payday.

Payday loans may be helpful when a person is having temporary cash flow problems or are facing a financial emergency and need money on a short-term basis. Payday loans are a good alternative to selling personal property for less than it is worth, or uncomfortable situations like borrowing money from family and friends.

The loans DO NOT require a credit check. Most employed people meet the loan approval criteria such as employment status, minimum income and an active checking or savings account.

Payday loans range in size from $100 to $1,500, depending on state legal maximums. The loan term typically ranges from 4 to 30 days

The majority of payday loans lenders and allow clients the option of “rolling over” a loan, meaning that the loan is extended to the next payday and the subsequent fees are doubled. Consumers may use payday loans to avoid late-payment penalties and negative marks on credit ratings. Many people have a need from time to time for short-term financial assistance and payday loans provide a viable solution. When used responsibly, payday loans can solve to these short-term cash needs effectively.

Online Cash Advance Payday Loans provide many advantages over applying at an offline traditional payday loan storefront. These advantages include:

  • Cash advance checks usually processed faster.
  • Apply anonymously from the public.
  • Complete the application in the privacy of your own home.
  • No difficult handwriting that may confuse the lender.
  • Have time to find ALL the cash advance information you need at home.
  • No standing in line at a store for hours.

Tobi

Tobi.com is the next generation online shopping boutique experience. Well, what are the differences between Tobi and Ebay or Lelong.com ? At here, you can find the latest fashions and also speak to online stylist to help you choose what is best for you.

Malaysians who live in Penang or KL are spoilt with the various shopping locations. Shopping online may not bring the joy of being able to walk around, touch and try the real thing, but online shopping have been very common in the US and other developed countries, the main reason is being convenience, you don't need to drive all the way, stuck in a jam to purchase new clothing, especially when new year is arriving.

At Tobi, you can either choose to shop by brands or categories. There are over 100 brands to choose from, starting from A-Z, which I have never heard or seen any of them in Malaysia (may be I am not up to date with fashion or these brands are not available in Malaysia).

Nudie jeans is one of the brand that can be found from this website. You can look for the types of jeans you wanted, such as Grim Trim Skinny Jeans, Slim Jim Skinny Jeans, Thin Finn Skinny Jeans and Regular Ralf Straight Leg Jeans. I found that those names are really funny, but looking at its design and quality, it may be a new experience for us who are more used to Levi's boring products name with just number.

Seven for All Mankind claims itself single handedly change fashion denim mainstream overnight by taking girls out of saggy and baggy and into slimming and flattering. Seven for All Mankind and its trademark pocket stitched swoosh is one of the best known and best selling denim brands in the world.

Currently, Tobi is providing free shipping for domestic purchase, and having discount at the sales section. For those who required international shipping, you would need to top up USD 29 for shipping. So why wait? Shop now at Tobi.com and discover so many other brands and choices that you have never seen before! Show off to your friends and family.

However, it is better to search online for proven evidence from clinical trials, example at FDA website before using any drugs.

  1. Sales Data and Rank
  2. Consultations with Health Care Professionals

Dissapointed with written proposal marker

WHY ? - One of the lecturer who marked Yen Wei's and mine written proposal only gave us satisfactory for no apparent reasons.

We were confident that we did our Introduction, Literature Review, Research Hypothesis and Objective, Materials and Methods and References well. Moreover, our proposals follows the instruction of our supervisors ( Associate Professor Dr.Ammu Radhakrishnan and Associate Professor Dr. Chu Wan Loy) and were went through by them for comments and modifications before submitted to AAD.

I don't know whether did the marker really did read my literature review, which I put in a lot of effort looking for the journals and facts because there isn't any signs of marking on it, fine.

But the marker who is a PhD somehow thinks that he/she???(don't wanna give a clue here who is he/she-herein after refer as SH) have problem with the methods proposed by our two supervisors who are currently holding the title of AP and the methods approved by the research committee.

SH seems having difficulties understanding this paragraph, which is very understandable and clear to any persons who knows English.

Then, SH seems to be not satisfy with this paragraph, asking us to state the concentration of Spirulina extract that we will be using in our research. But my question back to SH is - how are we supposed to know what concentration that we should use before completing this research ? If we are able to tell you the concentration, then this will just become an EXPERIMENT, not RESEARCH!

We are looking for whether Spirulina extract (methanolic extract in my case) does protect against oxidants-induced cell death. After conducting the research only then I will be able to tell you my findings what concentration of Spirulina extract can protect against how much of an oxidant, and not before all the research! If I know it I would have become god who can predict the future, now earning Millions of dollars and not suffering doing lab work until midnight 4am.

Please lah to SH, next time if you have any questions please contract our supervisors extension no. for Dr.Ammu is 1184 and Dr.Chu is 1185 to ask, don't just make people doubt your qualification to mark our paper.

Legendary Luciano Pavarotti

A great tenor had passed away yesterday, a great lost of talent to those who likes opera music. I don't really know him until 1 year ago, while listening to my friend's collection in his car, I am very impressed of his voice although none of us speaks Italian.

In 1972 he famously hit nine high C's in a row in Daughter of the Regiment at New York's Metropolitan Opera, which he referred to as "my home".

His last public singing performance was at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Turin in February 2006.

You may say that you are not interested in opera music and doesn't care about what happened to him but I think all of us should give tribute to this guy for his optimistic thinking and courage. He doesn't give up on fighting his pancreatic cancer and even perform while suffering from cancer.

Moreover, he still strive to gave several hours each day to teaching his pupils at his summer villa in Pesaro, on Italy's Adriatic Coast until just weeks before his death.

I am sure that he would not be happy for leaving this world before completing his farewell tour but god had taken him away after all...

Highlights of the great tenor's career

1. La Fille du régiment, New York 1972
Seventeen rapturous curtain calls crowned this sensational performance of Donizetti’s comedy at the Metropolitan Opera, confirming Pavarotti’s super stardom.

2. World Cup, Rome 1990
This epoch-making “Three Tenors” concert alongside Placido Domingo and José Carreras made Pavarotti a household name, not least for his heartfelt singing of Puccini’s “Nessun dorma”.

Bad experience at Sri Petaling Proton Edar

After having Pork noodle at OUG for lunch, Han Ping, Yen Wei and I decided to show our support to our national car by paying a visit to the Proton Edar located at Sri Petaling, near Shell and Mobil petrol station. Inside there were a few family and couple looking for a new car. Three of us were hoping to test drive the new Proton Persona.

However, when the salesman (David) found out that Han Ping is still a student, his attitude changed immediately, saying that he need a guarantor in order for him to test drive and persuade him to put booking fee (RM50) first. He asked us what car do you all drive and where did you all study. We told them we study in IMU and from his eye I can see he was wondering is that "Itu Mana University"? So he ask us " what is that?". We were like wtf!!!??? IMU so close to Sri Petaling also don't know? Our BPharm tuition fees can already buy a new Persona H-Line and a H-Line Savvy already ok!

He lied to us that the CAMPRO in this Persona is like what you found in Honda VTEC and Toyota VVTI. That time I had a very bad impression on him because even the Proton CEO admitted that the real CAMPRO is still in development and will be available later this year or next year. Currently CAMPRO is just a name, no whatsoever technology inside. Since I am not buying this car anyway, but HP is interested, I choose not to shoot on his face for being a liar.

It is spacious inside, the door close with a solid sound and the plastic quality has improve a lot compared to the one inside Gen-2. I don't like the the steering wheel, it is so hard and rough, makes me wonder whether am I grabbing a rough wooden stick or a steering. Ladies will need to apply more hand cream after driving this car.

It will takes the speedometer forever to reach the 240 km/h top speed.

Looks complicated to me...

Hand rest is made of soft material. Hopefully the power window failure problem has been solved forever.

I am unable to bump my head onto the roof of the backseat even when I sit straight, unlike the Gen2.

Haizzz... just got a little bit of good sales then this Proton salesman becomes arrogant. Even when Yen Wei wanna test drive Honda City V-Tec at The Store there a few weeks ago also got no problem. They shouldn't treat a potential customer like that, even if we are not buying this car for now...

Proton Persona- pride and joy of nation?

I felt proud to know that our country can produces a car when I was in primary school studying "Di Fang Yen Jiu". But as I grown up, the 1st generation Proton car which is in fact older than me by a few months, associated with low quality and using Mitsubishi 1st generation Lancer technology carburetor engine is still in production really disappoints me.

Newer model of Proton Saga, Proton Iswara is not much different except the engine horse power increase by a few bhp.

While Mitsubishi is coming out with its new Lancer Evolution 10, poor Malaysians need to settle with a 22 years old Proton Saga, isn't it a sad thing? Saying national car is the national pride really makes me laugh. I felt rather embarrased to see a dinosour car running on the road. Why they never improve after being given so many years and chances!

The technology and design of this new Lancer is light years ahead of any Proton cars!

Although they have tried hard to improve on their car quality, the new car still lacks in one of the most important aspect - the heart of a car which is the engine.

The same old engine that you can find in the Gen-2 give you bad low end torque, meaning that the engine needs to rev more to move the car from static, directly increasing the fuel consumption which becomes worst when you drive frequently in go-stop-go-stop KL traffic.

Even if they have made modifications to counter this problem, one thing that I had noticed is that they never mention the fuel consumption of this car. Previously they have been boosting that the 1.3L Gen-2 and Savvy can give you a decent mileage, but this time they never say a word on fuel consumption. So for those who is going to spend their hard earned money to pay 7 or 9 years loan to get this car, you should consider whether is there possibility that you need to break a big hole in your pocket to feed this car in order to get it moving.

Personally Persona's design is acceptable to me. This car is price competitively against the MyVi. One is 1.6L small-mid size sedan and another is 1.3L compact car.

Price list:
Proton Persona 1.6AT H-Line Metallic – RM55,800
Proton Persona 1.6AT M-Line Metallic – RM52,800
Proton Persona 1.6MT M-Line Metallic – RM49,800
Proton Persona 1.6AT B-Line Metallic – RM48,449
Proton Persona 1.6AT B-Line Solid – RM47,999
Proton Persona 1.6MT B-Line Metallic – RM45,449
Proton Persona 1.6MT B-Line Solid – RM44,999

Nevertheless, I pick MyVi over Persona anytime if I am going to get a new car when I come out as fresh grads. Engine realibility and fuel economy are the major factors that I made the decision to choose MyVi. May be I will consider Proton Persona if the engine comes with the real CAMPRO, VIM (variable intake mechanism) and CPS (cam profile shifting), otherwise Proton will never get my money.

Breaking News- IMU Canteen Caught Fire!

We have heard many times the fire alarm rang while we were attending lectures, but all of them were false alarm. Today 10.30 p.m., yes is NIGHTIME! Yen Wei, Han Ping and I went to make our 3T3 cells healthy in the culture room. We should be given the most hardworking student prizes, if there is any :) When we were just about to start the cell culturing process, the alarm rang for sometime. Again, we thought it was just malfunction of the alarm system and continued to carry on our work. Although I did take a look outside the lab, but everything seems to be fine to me at that time.

After finishing our work at 12.15 a.m., on the way back passing the lift we saw this numbers that freak us out-When did IMU construct until 58 floor high? After went down to the security check point at ground floor, we saw bomba and the security guards inside the control room.

These 2 cars are so "lucky" that they parked at the place where water was leaking for free car wash. The whole car park is so huge and coincidentally they parked at there.

The entrance was flooded with clean water, what a waste!

Bomba took about 1 hour to arrive after the incidence. Heard someone said that they drove to TPM looking for IMU, hence causing the delay. Come on, IMU is not APIIT lah! Luckily the fire that occur at the Malay canteen was not serious, or else...

If the only entrance/exit collapse due to the gas explosion, how are we going to escape! IMU please looked into this matter seriously. A building should have sufficient escape route to be approved for usage. 3 of us should be considered lucky to get out of there safely!

KL food exploration (Part 1)

Meng Kei Char Siew Fan nearby Jalan Alor-RM 6 per serving.
The roasted pork is crunchy and sweet.
Rating= 9/10
Meat ball (made from beef) spaghetti at Murni, SS2- RM 12
For beef lover like me, the meat ball really taste delicious unlike those low quality beef like Rxxli burger. The serving is so big until my stomach is so full until unable to walk. Suitable for those body builders.
Rating = 8/10

Ice blended Ribenna and Peach. RM 5 (large) , RM 4 (small)
Again, the "cup" as big as a 750 mL beaker will make your stomach burst... If you don't have a big stomach, better save RM 1 and just order small drinks. RM 5 one is seriously too big, it is sufficient for sharing with 2 person.
Rating = 8/10

Blog revive !

Goodbye to the research proposal, because of you I don't have time to blog for more than 3 weeks!

But now I am too free until don't know what to do. Went up to Genting in midnight 1am on 24th of July with a group of classmate, got the chance to get into the casino for the first time, but didn't gamble because I don't want to donate my money to uncle Lim. It will be something crazy I did during my final year university life, driving uphill (I am not the driver though) which looks like what you see in Initial D is dam scary leh... After that, ate a "big pao" which taste yucks and cost me RM5.30.

On the way back to KL the next morning, we almost got into accident (touchwood) at least twice. One is on the way downhill before the last police checkpoint with the signboard "Selekoh bahaya", better trust the signboard for those who think they are Schumacher or Raikkonen coz is really dangerous la, the car without ABS skidded for a for while because the road is slippery after the rain. Second incident was somewhere in KL, the driver with the name initial same as the car plate number fall asleep and drive up to the road sideway... that time i was asleep ... phew....

Yen Wei - a noob driver who think he is Kimi Raikkonen Junior knock his car onto the bump for 5-6 times on the way uphill to Genting. Hahaha, see some scratch mark on the bottom on his car, still say he is Kimi Raikonnen la, padan muka :) Somemore the plastic made bumper become loose on right side. He was expecting to pay RM 200++ for the repair charge.

But he got lucky, the foreman say "ni ti ngo tei mou kai ge, check ha je ma".

So this guy deserve some punishment, 25th of July is his birthday. In the midnight, YW who don't know how to swim was pushed into the pool of Vista C. I am the camera man. So not my fault. Omg, he really noob la, he don't know how to stand one, almost drowned in a pool which water level is lower than him. NOOB NOOB NOOB!!!

My "mou yeng sao", translate to english is no shadow hand

Happy birthday Harry Lim Potter, although your new movie is dam boring in the front part.
